Miss Universe 2009 is Miss Venezuela once again!

Nassau - Eighty-three most beautiful women on planet Earth vied on Sunday at the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort, Bahamas, for the Miss Universe crown but at the end it was 18-years old brunette Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela who walked away with the coveted title.

Initially there were eighty-four contestants but Jewel Selver (Miss Turks and Caicos) suffered from dehydration and went home Saturday to recuperate, said Esther Swan, Miss Universe spokeswoman.

The finalists were judged on the basis of their performance in three rounds swimsuit, evening gown and interview.

Ada Aimee de la Cruz (Miss Dominican Republic), Rachael Finch (Miss Australia), Mayra Matos Perez (Miss Puerto Rico), Stefania Fernandez (Miss Venezuela) and Gona Dragusha (Miss Kosovo) made it as the top 5 finalists. Mayra and Gona were placed as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

Miss Congeniality Title went to Wang Jingyao (Miss China) while the title of Miss Photogenic went to Chutima Durongdej (Miss Thailand).

Stefania became the 58th winner of the title in a show broadcast live around the world from the resort's imperial ballroom.

In a first, Miss Universe 2008, Venezuelan Dayana Mendoza crowned her compatriot as her successor. Till date,

India's Miss Universe hopeful Ekta Choudhury failed to make it to the top 15 despite over a billion Indian praying for her triumph.

Billy Bush, co-anchor of "Access Hollywood," and Claudia Jordan, a former Miss Rhode Island USA who has appeared on several TV shows hosted the event which included musical performances by Flo Rida, Heidi Montag, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland.
Judges included actor Dean Cain and supermodel Valeria Mazza.www.ibtimes.co.in
